Seaspan Shipyards delivers second OFSV to Canadian Coast Guard

Seaspan Shipyards has completed delivery of CCGS Capt. Jacques Cartier, the second Offshore Fisheries Science Vessel (OFSV) slated for the Canadian Coast Guard.

The 63.4-metre vessel is equipped to support scientists from Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the collection and analysis of data on Canada’s marine ecosystems and the impacts of climate change. Equipment and facilities include four science labs, fishing trawls, and a deployable drop keel fitted with an array of sensors.

Capt. Jacques Cartier will also support search and rescue (SAR) operations and environmental response.
