Lake Assault to build patrol and response craft for Pittsburgh

The City of Pittsburgh River Rescue Unit, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has selected Lake Assault Boats to construct a 30-foot (nine-metre) EMS river rescue catamaran.

The craft’s primary missions are performing rescues in response to water emergencies, administering advanced life support (ALS) services, assisting firefighting operations, and providing security for the Port of Pittsburgh.

The vessel will have a hydraulically operated bow door, a heated front deck, a fire pump, a forward looking infrared (FLIR) camera, accommodation for a small police boarding team and one four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, and two Yamaha 425hp (316kW) outboard engines that will deliver a maximum speed of 39 knots.

Delivery is scheduled for the fall of 2019.
