Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has launched the final one of five Priyadarshini-class fast patrol vessels (FPVs) slated for the Indian Coast Guard.

The vessel will later be commissioned into service as ICGS Kanak Lata Barua in honour of a young girl who was a celebrated figure in the Indian pro-independence movement of the 1940s.

The 50- by 7.5-metre FPV will have a displacement of 300 tonnes, a maximum speed of 34 knots, an endurance of more than 1,500 nautical miles, and a crew of 35.
