The Finnish Border Guard will set up a new facility in the port city of Lappvik on the country’s southern coast to serve as a support base for the service’s patrol vessels.

The border guard will establish and operate the facility, which will include a pier and storage areas, under a lease agreement with port company Port of Lappvik.

Following the activation of the Lappvik station in early 2023, the border guard will cease operations at its Tammisaari station in Ekenas, which currently serves the same vessel support role.
