The Finnish Border Guard and local shipbuilder Meyer Turku have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for the construction of two new patrol vessels in a series.

The newbuildings will replace three border guard vessels that are nearing the end of their operational service lives.

Meyer Turku expects that the final shipbuilding contract will be awarded later this year.
