The China Maritime Safety Administration (CMSA) took delivery of a new patrol vessel from Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding on Tuesday, August 18.

Shenhai 01 (“Deep Sea 01”) has an LOA of 78 metres, a moulded beam of 12.8 metres, a design draught of 3.4 metres, and a full load displacement of approximately 1,450 tonnes. It is also one of China’s first locally built, government-owned vessels to be powered by a lithium-ion battery hybrid propulsion system.

The vessel will perform maritime law enforcement, search and rescue (SAR), and pollution monitoring in high-risk incidents such as LNG spills in the open sea.
