Bollinger Shipyards delivered the future Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC) USCGC Edgar Culbertson to the US Coast Guard on Thursday, February 6.

The 46-metre vessel is named after Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Edgar Culbertson, who perished in the line of duty while trying to rescue three teenage brothers during a fierce storm in Duluth, Minnesota, in April 1967. He was awarded the United States Coast Guard Medal for his bravery and heroism.

The future Edgar Culbertson is the 37th FRC to be delivered to the coast guard and will be the second of three FRCs to be homeported in Galveston, Texas.
