Australia orders army support craft for Far North Queensland

The Australian government has placed an order for a new locally built multi-role craft to be utilised by the Australian Army’s 51st Battalion, Far North Queensland Regiment.

The 12.5-metre vessel will be used for border protection, search and rescue/recovery (SAR), casualty evacuation, and reconnaissance and surveillance in the north and north-east of Australia.

The craft will be based at Thursday Island, from where it will provide marine support to whole of government operations following its delivery in October 2020.
