The French Ministry of Defence and Naval Group have begun conducting sea trials of the future FS Suffren, the first of six Barracuda-class nuclear-powered attack submarines to be built for France.

The trials began off Cherbourg and are expected to extend further into the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

The future Suffren is scheduled for delivery to the French Navy by the end of 2020.
