Saint Petersburg shipyard delivers Russian Navy’s newest Project 636.3 submarine

The new Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine Magadan was handed over to the Russian Navy in a ceremony in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday, October 12.

Built by United Shipbuilding Corporation’s (USC) Admiralty Shipyard, the new submarine will be homeported in Vladivostok and will operate as part of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Magadan measures 113 by 14 metres long and is crewed by 52 officers and enlisted sailors. It has a maximum diving depth of 300 metres, an endurance of 45 days, and a maximum submerged speed of 18 knots.
