Builder’s trials completed for Russian submarine Magadan

Saint Petersburg-based Admiralty Shipyard has completed its builder’s sea trials of the future Russian Navy Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine Magadan.

The tests were conducted to gauge the submarine’s performance during high-speed submerged sailings and diving to greater depths. Also tested were the onboard systems used for communication, threat detection, and life support.

Magadan is currently undergoing final outfitting in preparation for hand-over to the navy before the end of the third quarter of 2021.
