UK defence firm joins tender for South Korea’s future aircraft carrier
UK defence company Babcock International Group and South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the design and possible construction of a new type of aircraft carrier for the South Korean Navy.
Once completed, the lone CVX-class carrier will measure over 260 metres long and will be able to accommodate an air wing consisting of helicopters and F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters.
The Babcock-HHI partnership is one of only two confirmed bidders for the CVX program.
