Israel Shipyards has been awarded a contract for the supply of two offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) in a series to an unnamed naval operator in Africa.

The vessels will each have an LOA of 45.7 metres, a maximum speed in excess of 24 knots, and deck space for one seven-metre rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) to be used in at-sea interceptions.

The OPVs will be used for maritime security patrols, fisheries protection missions, pollution response, and search and rescue (SAR).
