Indian Coast Guard commissions coastal interceptor

The Indian Coast Guard commissioned a new coastal interceptor craft into service on Wednesday, January 29.

The Larsen and Toubro-built vessel has been assigned the pennant number C448. It has a length of 28 metres, a crew of 15, and a forward mount for one general purpose machine gun.

Two Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines give the interceptor a maximum speed of 45 knots and a range of 500 nautical miles at 25 knots.

The newbuild will also be equipped to perform search and rescue (SAR).
