HII awarded US$1.5 billion contract for 15th San Antonio-class LPD

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division has received a US$1.50 billion fixed-price-incentive modification to a previously awarded contract for the procurement of the detail design and construction of a new San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock (LPD) for the US Navy.

As with other vessels in the class, the LPD will have a length of 208 metres, a beam of 32 metres, a helicopter deck, and space for air cushion or conventional landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles.

The vessel will be the 15th San Antonio-class LPD.
