HII awarded US$1.47 billion for construction of 14th San Antonio-class LPD

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division has received a US$1.47 billion fixed-price incentive contract from the US Navy for the detail design and construction of the landing platform dock (LPD) LPD 30.

The ship will be the 14th in the San Antonio-class and the first Flight II LPD of that class.

The yet-unnamed LPD will be optimised for use in both major combat operations and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
