Naval Group has confirmed that the initial series of sea trials has begun for the future French Navy frigate Alsace.

A frigate under the FREMM class built by Naval Group, Alsace is also the first of two FREMM frigates to be built from the outset with improved anti-air warfare capability.

Delivery of the frigate is scheduled for 2021. Sister vessel Lorraine, the second improved air defence FREMM frigate, will be handed over to the French Navy the following year.
