Pakistani builder Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) has cut the first steel for a new MILGEM corvette slated for the Pakistan Navy.

The ship will be the fourth MILGEM or Jinnah-class corvette and the second in the class to be built for Pakistan. The first two ships are being built in Turkey by Askeri Fabrika ve Tersane (ASFAT).

The MILGEM corvettes were originally developed by ASFAT for the Turkish Navy. Once in Pakistani service, they will be used for anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare.
