Construction begins on new patrol vessels for African naval customer

Israel Shipyards has begun construction of two offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) in a series slated for an undisclosed naval customer in Africa.

The vessels will each have an LOA of 45.7 metres, a beam of 8.6 metres, a maximum speed of 24 knots, and a range of 3,500 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Missions will include border protection and anti-piracy operations.
