US Navy completes acceptance trials of USNS Puerto Rico

The US Navy has successfully completed acceptance trials of the future USNS Puerto Rico, the 11th Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) vessel designed and built by Austal USA.

The trials, conducted in the Gulf of Mexico, had integrated formal builder’s trials with acceptance trials.

Austal said in a press release that combining the two at-sea trials into one event has resulted in improved efficiency, reduced costs, and a shorter completion schedule.

The future Puerto Rico is scheduled for delivery to the US Navy before the end of the year.
