The US Navy christened the future USNS Miguel Keith, its fifth Montford Point-class expeditionary sea base (ESB), in a ceremony on Saturday, October 19.

The ship is named in honor of US Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Lance Corporal Miguel Keith, and is the first ship to bear the name.

The 239- by 50-metre Miguel Keith is expected to be delivered later this year upon completion at General Dynamics NASSCO. Like other ships in its class, it will be operated as a floating command and control platform for supporting special operations forces and airborne mine countermeasures missions.
