Royal Australian Navy’s newest fleet oiler sails for home waters

The future HMAS Supply, the lead ship of a new class of two replenishment oilers slated for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), has departed the facilities of Spanish builder Navantia and is currently en route to Western Australia.

The auxiliary oiler replenishment (AOR) ship is expected to arrive at the RAN’s HMAS Stirling shore base near Perth in early October. Upon arrival, combat and communication systems will be installed by local companies in time for commissioning later this year.

In addition to transporting fuel, food, water, ammunition, spare parts, and other cargo in support of deployed RAN task forces, the future Supply and sister vessel Stalwart are also designed to respond to marine pollution incidents and to support humanitarian and disaster relief (HADR) operations.
