The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) formally retired the supply ship HMAS Sirius in a ceremony at its homeport of Fleet Base West in Western Australia on Saturday, December 18.

The ship was originally built as the commercial tanker Delos at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. It was purchased by the Australian Government in June 2004 and commissioned into service with the RAN on September 16, 2006.

Following Sirius‘ delivery to the navy, replenishment-at-sea rigs and an enhanced naval communications suite were installed, and the accommodation quarters were modified to house a crew of up to 70.
