JMSDF’s first oil tanker floated out

Shin Kurushima Dockyard has floated out a new oil tanker slated for the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF).

The future YOT-01 will be the first oil tanker in service with the JMSDF. Its delivery and commissioning are scheduled for the spring of 2022.

The tanker will be the first in a series of two that the JMSDF will use to transport oil from various local refineries to its coastal bases throughout Japan.
