Fincantieri has been selected by French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique for the construction of the forward sections of four future fleet support ships in a series slated for the French Navy.

The forward sections will be delivered to Chantiers de l’Atlantique during the 2021-2027 timeframe.

The vessels will be completed by a consortium between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Naval Group. Their design will be based on that of Vulcano (pictured), a Fincantieri-built fleet support ship scheduled to enter service with the Italian Navy at the end of 2020.
