Russia’s Sokolskaya Shipyard has completed construction of the lead vessel of a new class of torpedo recovery boats slated for the country’s navy.

Named TL-2195, the Project 1388NZT vessel has a length of 48.9 metres, a beam of nine metres, a draught of 2.62 metres, and space for 14 crew. Two 2,600kW diesel engines deliver a maximum speed of 20 knots and a range of 1,000 nautical miles.

The vessel will soon begin undergoing state trials prior to delivery to the navy.

The Project 1388NZT torpedo recovery boats are modified variants of the Russian Navy’s Project 1388NZ communications vessels.
