The Brazilian Navy has awarded local shipyard Estaleiro Bibi Eireli a contract for the construction of a new hospital ship.

It will be the sixth hospital ship to be operated by the Brazilian Navy upon its delivery, which is tentatively scheduled for August 2022.

As with the hospital ships already in service with the Brazilian Navy, the new vessel will be designed for operation in inland waterways to enable it to reach remote communities situated along the country’s many rivers.
