BOOK REVIEW | Royal Navy Officers of the Seven Years War – A Biographical Dictionary of Commissioned Officers 1748 – 1763

A most unusual but, nevertheless, very interesting and useful historical work, this book obviously required vast amounts of research. It contains brief details on more than 2,000 commissioned officers of the Royal Navy who served in the rather frenetic Seven Years War.

There are, of course, succinct career details but also interesting information as to births, deaths marriages and families. It is a book to be read in “dribs and drabs” but a fascinating one nevertheless. At nearly 600 pages, there is a lot to it but it provides an invaluable reference.
