The US Navy commissioned USS Billings, its newest Freedom-class littoral combat ship (LCS), in a ceremony in Key West, Florida, on Saturday, August 3.

Built by Marinette Marine, the ship is named in honour of the city of Billings, Montana, as well as the people and military veterans of the state. USS Billings is also the first US Navy ship to bear the name of Montana’s largest city.

The LCS will be homeported in Mayport, Florida, as part of Littoral Combat Ship Squadron Two.
