The US Coast Guard commissioned USCGC Terrell Horne, a 46-metre Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC), on Friday, March 22.

It is the third vessel of its class to be homeported at Coast Guard Base Los Angeles-Long Beach and will operate throughout the 11th Coast Guard District, which includes all of California and international waters off Mexico and Central America.

The vessel honours Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III, who was killed while attempting to apprehend suspected drug smugglers during law enforcement operations off the Southern California coast on December 2, 2012.

Terrell Horne has a crew of 24, a speed of 28 knots, and a range of 2,100 nautical miles.
