A fire broke out on board the US Navy Avenger-class mine countermeasures (MCM) ship USS Devastator while the vessel was pierside at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain at approximately 20:00 local time on Thursday, March 14.

There were no personnel injuries. The extent of the damage is being assessed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sailors aboard Devastator, USS Sentry, USS Gladiator, USS Dextrous, and USS Whirlwind, as well as the NSA Bahrain Fire Department, responded to the incident.

The ship declared the fire extinguished at approximately 21:00 local time as sailors continued to cool hot spots to prevent a re-flash.
