US Navy lays keel of future USS Mobile

The US Navy held a keel laying and authentication ceremony for the future USS Mobile at Austal USA’s shipyard on Friday, December 14.

The vessel is the fifth to be named after the city of Mobile in Alabama as well as the thirteenth Independence-class littoral combat ship (LCS).

The future USS Mobile will measure 127.4 by 31.6 metres and displace 3,104 tonnes upon completion.
