Navantia to build five new frigates for Spanish Navy
Navantia will receive on Friday, December 14, the Spanish government’s official approval for it to build five F110 class frigates for the country’s navy in a deal amounting to €4.3 billion (US$4.9 billion).
Each vessel will measure 145 by 18 metres and will displace 6,100 tonnes.
All five F110 frigates are scheduled to enter service within the 2023-2027 timeframe to replace the six aging Santa Maria-class ships that were commissioned between 1986 and 1995.
