Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov to begin builder’s trials

The Russian Navy’s Project 22350 frigate Admiral Kasatonov is undergoing preparations for its first phase of builder’s trials set for early December.

The ship is currently at United Shipbuilding Corporation’s Northern shipyard where its readiness is being evaluated by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The frigates of Project 22350, also known as the Admiral Gorshkov-class, each have a displacement of 5,000 tonnes, a length of 135 metres, a width of 16 metres, a maximum speed of 29 knots, an endurance of 30 days, and a crew of 170.

Armament will include a 130-millimetre naval gun, 16 Oniks or Kalibr anti-ship cruise missiles, 32 Redut surface-to-air missiles, and Paket-NK torpedoes. There will also be hangar and flight deck space for one Ka-27 helicopter.
