Sovereign Global orders five new offshore patrol vessels

Sovereign Global is developing a fleet of versatile, hybrid fuel and cost-efficient offshore patrol and communications intelligence vessels.

The fast response interdiction vessels will be equipped with NG-RMP, subsea security sonars, ISR devices, live satellite imagery, UAS and MARPOL oil spill response equipment.

The OPVs will be 55 metres in length and made from high-tensile steel.

A diesel-electric propulsion plant will deliver an interception speed of 21 knots and provide a fuel efficiency of only 100 litres per hour at 11 knots patrol speed.

All five vessels are currently under construction in the Netherlands, with the first vessel expected to be delivered within four months with the rest following in two-month intervals.
