Oyo Corporation joins Japanese offshore wind geotechnical investigation project

Japanese geoscience specialist Oyo Corporation has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Fugro wherein the partners will collaborate on geotechnical services in support of offshore wind projects in Japan.

Fugro, NYK, and Oyo will provide a comprehensive service for the offshore wind energy industry in Japan through the combination of the joint operation of an offshore geotechnical investigation vessel by NYK and Fugro, Fugro’s global knowledge and experience in site investigations for offshore wind farms, and Oyo’s insights into the Japanese geoscience market.

This new MOU follows an earlier agreement entered into by Fugro and NYK in November 2020. The vessel that will be developed by these two partners under the earlier MOU will help address the apparent shortage of offshore geotechnical investigation vessels serving the Japanese market.
