A joint venture formed by Finnish shipbuilder Marine Alutech and compatriot company Nylunds Boathouse will establish a new shipyard in Hanko on the country’s southern coast.

The 18-hectare site that was recently acquired by the joint venture will have 33,000 square metres of space for facilities and a 200-metre-long pier. The site will also feature a deep-water harbour, long-term winter boat storage, and full service and support facilities.

Marine Alutech said the waterfront site has the potential to be developed into a maritime precinct with existing railroad connections.
