Weeks Marine’s newest hopper dredger floated out

Florida-based the Eastern Shipbuilding Group has floated out the second trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) in a series ordered by Weeks Marine of Cranford, New Jersey.

R.B. Weeks honours Richard B. Weeks, a co-founder of Weeks Marine. It will be a near identical sister of the 2017-built TSHD Magdalen, which honours Richard’s wife Magdalen Weeks.

Once completed, R.B. Weeks will have a Royal IHC dredging machinery package, two GE EPA Tier IV main engines, a GE auxiliary engine, a Caterpillar C18 emergency generator, and accommodations for 26 personnel.
