The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in partnership with local sponsor Port of Everett, has begun maintenance dredging of the upper and lower channel of Everett Harbor and the Snohomish River in Washington State.

A US$1.5 million contract had earlier been awarded to Portable Hydraulic Dredging of Anchorage, Alaska to dredge approximately 45,000 cubic metres of material from the upper channel and place it on an adjacent upland site.

The USACE will also dredge approximately 30,000 cubic metres from the lower channel. The material will be beneficially placed on Jetty Island’s west shore.

The work is expected to be completed by mid-December 2019.
