Maritime services company ST Marine Support of Harlingen in the Netherlands has placed an order for a new dredging support workboat to be supplied by the Damen Shipyards Group.

The vessel will have a number of features that will optimise it for supporting ultra-shallow water dredging. These will enable it to operate in water depths as shallow as two metres.

The equipment package will include substantial deck cranes fore and aft, anchor handling, towing and tugger winches, and a 40-tonne A-frame. Accommodation spaces will meanwhile consist of four cabins that can house a total of nine personnel.

Three fixed-pitch propellers will deliver 25 tonnes of bollard pull and a speed of ten knots.

The initial build is currently underway at Safe Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland. The hull will later be moved to Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands for completion and fitted out.

Delivery is scheduled for March 2023.
