Reimerswaal Dredging launches newbuild TSHD

A new multipurpose trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) DC Orisant has been launched at Royal IHC’s Krimpen aan den IJssel yard in the Netherlands.

The multi-purpose 5,450-cubic-metre TSHD is being built for a joint venture between Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt.

It has been designed to dredge marine aggregates (sand and gravel) for the construction industry, but can also perform regular dredging projects, such as maintenance dredging and beach nourishment.

Believed to be the first complete diesel electric aggregate dredger in the market, DC Orisant also has a DP2 dynamic positioning installation, enabling the vessel to undertake support activities for the construction of offshore windfarms.
