Netherlands-based marine projects company Martens en Van Oord (MVO) has been awarded a contract for dredging and quay reinforcement works at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium.

The works, which will commence before the end of March, will involve deepening of the channel to 16 metres to allow transits of larger ships and reinforcement of the quay wall of the port’s Vierde Havendok docking basin. Local company the Smet Group will be the main contractor for the projects.

The contract secured by MVO was awarded by construction company the Aertssen Group.
