Pixabay.com/masumrefat – Bangladeshi waters are ripe for dredging.

Dredging at the outer bar of Mongla Port Channel project in Bangladesh has been approved by the National Economic Council’s executive committee, according to local media.

The United News of Bangladesh reports the Mongla Port Authority and shipping ministry will complete the project by December 2019.

The works are being done to increase the navigability of the channel for vessels with a 10.5-metre draught. Authority officials said ships with more than an 8.5-metre draught cannot currently go through the outer bar area, it reported.
