MARAD awards US$19.6 million in shipyard upgrade grants
The US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) will award US$19.6 million in grant funding to 31 small shipyards in 15 states through the Small Shipyard Grant Program.
The funds will help awardees modernise their existing shipbuilding facilities, increase productivity, and expand local employment opportunities while competing in the global marketplace.
The awardee shipyards are located in Alabama, Alaska, California, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
