Maldives Transport and Contracting awarded two reclamation projects

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has secured two new land reclamation projects with a total value of approximately MVR492 million (US$31.8 million).

Under the R. Alifushi Land Reclamation and Airport Development Project, MTCC will reclaim 50.5 hectares of land and perform other works including shore protection and construction of a 1,200-metre-long runway, a taxiway, an apron with shoulder and service roads, and a revetment.

The project is valued at MVR451.61 million (US$29.2 million) and is to be completed within 750 days.

Meanwhile, under the K. Kuda Giri Picnic Island Reclamation and Shore Protection Project, MTCC will reclaim eight hectares of land and construct a 428-metre revetment and a 397-metre breakwater. The project is valued at MVR41.36 million (US$2.6 million) and is to be completed within 150 days.

Both projects were awarded by the Maldives Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.
