Louisiana builder secures dredger order from Texas contractor

Louisiana builder DSC Dredge has been awarded a contract to supply a new custom-built dredger to Muddy Water Dredging of Orange, Texas.

The 371-foot (113-metre) dredger will be used for maintenance in narrow waterways. Features will include a detachable carriage barge to allow the dredger to quickly convert from a wide cut format configuration to a shorter conventional configuration for work in areas with limited space.

Lay-down carriage barge spuds will also be fitted to facilitate transit under low clearance structures such as bridges.

Onboard facilities will include three offices, a conference room, and restrooms.
