Keppel Offshore and Marine, through wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel AmFELS, has been awarded a contract for the construction of a new trailing suction hopper dredger for US-based Manson Construction.

When completed, Frederick Paup will have a hopper capacity of 11,400 cubic metres and will operate primarily in the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast. It will be Jones Act-compliant and built to ABS requirements.

The highly-automated vessel will have a length of 128 metres, a beam of 25 metres, a draught of eight metres, and a diesel-electric power system.

Manson claims Frederick Paup will be the largest hopper dredger in operation in the United States when it enters service in 2023.
