Netherlands-based marine contractor Royal Smals has ordered a fully-electric deep suction dredger from Holland Shipyards Group subsidiary TV Dredging.

The new vessel, a custom build dredger, will be used for sand extraction.

The jointly designed vessel will measure 22 metres long and 7.51 metres wide and will be capable of dredging up to depths of 27.3 metres. The total installed power will be 1,000 kW, with 550 kW for the dredge pump and 375 kW for the jet pump.

The dredger is expected to enter service in the second half of 2020.
