Australian transport agency Transport for NSW has received environmental approval to carry out maintenance dredging of the Swansea Channel.

The works are scheduled to start by the end of July, subject to weather conditions and the obtaining of a Crown Lands dredging licence.

The dredging allows for the removal of up to 30,000 cubic metres of sand over two dredging campaigns this financial year. Transport for NSW will confirm the start date for dredging upon obtaining the Crown Lands Licence.

The agency will award the contract for dredging the Swansea Channel as soon as it has completed the tender review process. Details will be published here.
