DEME christens newest cutter suction dredger

DEME formally named the newest addition to its dredging fleet in a ceremony on Thursday, May 27.

The cutter suction dredger Spartacus has a total installed power of 44,180 kW and is designed to be capable of dredging at depths of as much as 45 metres. The vessel also features a propulsion system that can be powered by different types of fuel including LNG.

The dredger also has a waste heat recovery system and an onboard workshop with a vibration-insulated floor, making it possible to carry out the maintenance and repair of the cutterheads during operations.
